Frequencies
Country Radio broadcasts
from its studio in Říčanská Street, No. 3, in Prague 10. We
use two wavebands. We broadcast on frequencies 89.5 MHz
(UHF), 98.3 MHz (UHF), 102.6 MHz (UHF) and 1062 kHz (MW).

Our signal is transmitted
from the roof of the Říčanská building
directly to a transmitter located on the
Stimbuilding. It is transmitted from that tower in
all directions (output 5 kW).
The antenna system
mounted on the Stimbuilding uses vertical polarization, and therefore, you
get the best UHF reception if you put your
receiver’s antenna into a vertical
position. |

While the Stimbuilding is dominantly visible
probably from every part of Prague, the transmitters
transmitting our programs on medium waves are
not that visible. If you go from Prague on the
Strakonice road, just before you leave Prague
you will notice, on the right hand side, three
towers located on Zbraslav Hill. Those are
antenna systems designed for the Country Radio
medium wave broadcast for Prague and Central
Bohemia. There is no need to deliver our signal
to those towers because they utilize our UHF
broadcast. From 6 AM to 7 PM we broadcast with
MV output of 20 kW and in the evening and during
the night, we are allowed to broadcast on the
frequency of 1062 kHz with an output of only 1
kW, due to international frequency coordination.
That is why, after 7 PM, some of you lose our MV
broadcast or face interference by other
transmitters. That phenomenon results from
lowered atmospheric layers, which much better
reflect radio waves and spread them over much
larger distances than during the day. On the
other hand, thanks to that situation, it is
possible to listen to our broadcast (especially
in the evening and during the night) in Germany,
for example, in Scandinavia, and also in the
British Isles.
